How can bush doubling the debt in 8 years be good, but obamas spending is a disaster?

20
debt
Oliver North Cocaine Smuggler asked:

Well, reagan/bush sr quadrupled the debt from 1 to 4 trillion. Bush jr doubled the debt from 5.7 trillion to 10.7 trillion in 8 years.

Do you get sick of hearing these idiots complain about obama spending 787 billion and saying it will lead to massive hyperinflation?

It is pointless to reason with these people.

Good night.

Deficit spending ***** no matter who is responsible.. That being the case, Obama should know better and he is currently responsible.

It’s not about the debt, it’s about who generated it in their mind. If they had their way there would be only one political party in our country, and Rush would be king for life.

Well Duh! @ 4:45 am #

Because we cannot afford tripling the debt. Most are not happy with the spending during the Bush years, and to triple that debt makes people really pissed off. People that think as you do should not be let loose in society. You bring nothing of value to the table.

Actually, it wasn’t Reagan but congress that increased the debt. And that was not good…we’re now facing a $1.8 TRILLION deficit which is a catastrophe.

Good work, that should stop the idiot neocons…NOT. No matter what they will listen to the word of Cheney, Limbaugh and Hannity above all logical alternatives. These 3 men are not logical in any sense of the word. Therefore the ditto head neocons can not be persuaded by logic.

Nobody says that bush doubling the debt was good.

I am one of those idiots of which you are sick. You were also sick of the idiots who said that housing bubble would collapse and take the rest of the economy with it. It is pointless indeed to reason with us, unless you have at least high school education to back up your reasoning.

8 years and a war……..
100 days and a war…..
hard to reason with the left who ignore the fact the government has taken over more and expanded more, in a shorter amout of time than any in history. You voted for more government, more tax and more government involvement, well now we have it and it is ruining not only our economy, but our social fabric as well.

After 9/11 we were going to deficit spend to make sure the economy didn’t collapse. Bush used our deficit spending to strengthen the military.

Straight forward and logical; though, most didn’t approve of the way he ended up deficit spending in Iraq.

Once again we have another crisis. Obama has tripled last year’s fiscal deficit (a record in its own right). Obama is spending the money on ????. We do know he hasn’t spent any money on a plan to retire toxic assets, he’s too busy making sure the UAW get their pensions.

Deficit spending is one thing, but promising to reduce deficit spending, then tripling the all time fiscal deficit spending is unacceptable.

Do the math and the time on both presidents. Don’t have to say anymore!!!

Bush raised the national debt to 10.7 trillion. How is Obama tripling that?

Huh? @ 2:55 pm #

You need to get educated…..

Bush was too liberal for me. I didn’t support his spending either. To be clear though, the biggest annual deficit during the Bush years was $455 Billion, a record. Obama’s first year deficit is projected to be $1.8 Trillion, 4X that of Bush. He claims he will be able to cut that in half in 4 years, which will mean his final year deficit will still be double that of the largest Bush deficit.

I think your figure is slightly off. the ending Bush debt should be 10.0 Trillion.

I **** both of them. We should not be going into debt for war or bailouts.

Obama isn’t squandering it away on defense. He’s trying to bring the economy out of a recession and bring businesses back. If can think of any better solutions besides legalizing gambling, pot, and prostitution, or charging all the churches, private universities, and charter schools around the country property taxes, you be sure to let us know.

Reagan ran for office in 1980 as a harsh critic of “tax and spend” liberalism, vowing as president to shrink the size of the government by slashing federal spending. Once in office, however, Reagan found it impossible to deliver on his promises.
